Наконец-то наши дети в безопасности!
Не могу понять всю эту истерию вокруг ныне почившего Миши Джексона! Ну, умер еще один безумный житель планеты… Увяло замешанное в инфантосексуализме существо… Но нет! Общественность впадает во всеобщую истерию, сносит с прилавков альбомы, собирается на стадионах…
15 лет назад, этот по-своему несчастный человек превратился в пародию на самого себя и об него тут же стали вытереть ноги его же недавние почитатели. Сколько дерьма вылили на голову фальшивого Короля попа! Ему даже пришлось сбежать на чужбину…
Теперь, после его смерти ему возвращается его былое величие. Одна уважаемая доктор наук, узнав о его смерти на ученом совете, стала говорить об его грандиозном вкладе в массовую культуру. Я ответил: «Наконец отмучился, бедолага! Наши дети могут спасть спокойно». RIP MJ.

Lanegan does a properly slow, soulful, kind of blue take of one of his Gutter Twin's classic Congregation songs "Tonight." His go at the 1992 come-on's from the forthcoming Summer's Kiss: A Tribute To The Afghan Whigs, which includes a baker's dozen of Whigs takes via Joseph Arthur, My Jerusalem, Zykos, etc. The idea for it started in the summer of 2006 when the Afghan Whigs fan site Summerkiss put out an open call for covers of Whigs songs and folks responded. You can hear snippets of the selected 13 (of nearly 100 submitted) at the Summerkiss label's website, but first you can hear Lanegan in his smokey entirety here. (By the by, does Sam Holden's photo for the tribute's cover look at all familiar, gentlemen?).

Нет, это слишком даже для такого старого солдата ракенролла как я... Сначала мокнуть под проливным дождем 4 часа и влить в себя много всего всякого, а потом поехать еще и за добавкой... Было весело встретить старых друзей… Радует, что всю бодягу которую играли до наших карелов просто сдуло со сцены, когда вылезли наши… Жаль, что половину второго концерта в Билингве я нагло проспал (до меня этим прославился Хабон, а Елькин заснул на 2-й песни Оззи Озборна!)… Сегодня я отдирал обои… концерт в Вермели остался за бортом… Но мы свое еще возьмем! Not one but TWO free tracks from Mark Lanegan side project. Former Screaming Tree and Queen of the Stone Age, Mark Lanegan is a) a giant, b) keeper of one of modern rock’s greatest voices and c) a very busy man. The last few years have seen Lanegan team up with former Afghan Whig Greg Dulli for The Gutter Twins, former Belle & Sebastian singer Isabel Campbell for two country tinged albums, and Soulsavers: now on their 3rd album and this time around featuring Lanegan, Mike Patton, Jason Pierce, Gibby Haynes, Will Oldham and Richard Hawley on vocals.
This August sees the release of Soulsavers’ third album. The link below take you to the single and b-side, neither of which are included in the finished long player, an album that refuses to confine it’s ambitions to one genre.

MARK LANEGAN fully consolidates his position within the Soulsavers project, delivering some of his finest vocal performances to date over the course of ten tracks, though numerous other leftfield luminaries also come along for the ride… Spritualized’s JASON PIERCE duets with Lanegan on “Pharaoh’s Chariot”, MIKE PATTON appears on “Unbalanced Pieces”, RICHARD HAWLEY adds backing vocals to “Shadows Fall”, while GIBBY HAYNES of BUTTHOLE SURFERS infamy appears alongside Lanegan on “Death Bells”…

The grandson of country legend Hank Williams, Sr. and the son of Hank Williams, Jr., also a renowned musician, the younger Williams' neotraditional country-meets-alternative country philosophy on country was made clear early on: "the older you sound, the punker you are." His style alternates between music that touches on cowpunk and straight-ahead traditional country music and honky tonk. He also is a member of the punk metal band Assjack, and was the bassist for Superjoint Ritual. In his career, he has released five studio albums, including three for Curb Records.

MARK LANEGAN fully consolidates his position within the Soulsavers project, delivering some of his finest vocal performances to date over the course of ten tracks, though numerous other leftfield luminaries also come along for the ride… Spritualized’s JASON PIERCE duets with Lanegan on “Pharaoh’s Chariot”, MIKE PATTON appears on “Unbalanced Pieces”, RICHARD HAWLEY adds backing vocals to “Shadows Fall”, while GIBBY HAYNES of BUTTHOLE SURFERS infamy appears alongside Lanegan on “Death Bells”…
But before all of this Soulsavers will be treating us to “Sunrise”, a lone-plains-drifter lament written by Mark Lanegan and sung by WILL OLDHAM which will be released exclusively as a 7” single. Returning the compliment, Lanegan takes on Oldham’s “You Will Miss Me When I Burn” on the B-side of the single.
“Broken” is released 17th August 2009 on V2 / Cooperative Music.

Here's a riddle: What do Spiritualized's Jason Pierce, Faith No More's Mike Patton and Gibby Haynes of Butthole Surfers all have in common?
If you said that they were once in great bands and are now shadows of their former selves you'd be right, but that's hardly breaking news.
No, that linking factor isn't the point at all. The real scoop is how all three of these front-men have agreed to partake in the new album from Britain's Soulsavers, who are calling their latest Broken.
Comprised of production duo Rich Machin and Ian Glover, the electronic outfit have been kicking about since 2000 but haven't released anything since 2007's Exclaim!-approvedIt's Not How Far You Fall, It's the Way You Land. That album cemented the team's modus operandi of working with guest vocalists by featuring Screaming Trees singer Mark Lanegan, who apparently does the bulk of the vocals on Broken.
On the record, Pierce duets with Lanegan on a tune, while Patton and Haynes appear on their individual tracks. Not only that but the star-studded affair will also be preceded by a seven-inch single featuring Will “Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy” Oldham singing the Lanegan-penned track “Sunrise” on the A-side and Lanegan doing the Oldham song “You Will Miss Me When I Burn” on the flip.
No release dates have been confirmed yet for either the single or the full-length.

Lanegan does a properly slow, soulful, kind of blue take of one of his Gutter Twin's classic Congregation songs "Tonight." His go at the 1992 come-on's from the forthcoming Summer's Kiss: A Tribute To The Afghan Whigs, which includes a baker's dozen of Whigs takes via Joseph Arthur, My Jerusalem, Zykos, etc. The idea for it started in the summer of 2006 when the Afghan Whigs fan site Summerkiss put out an open call for covers of Whigs songs and folks responded. You can hear snippets of the selected 13 (of nearly 100 submitted) at the Summerkiss label's website, but first you can hear Lanegan in his smokey entirety here.

Apparently the management of John Cale has stated that there will be an official release of Life Along the Borderline: a tribute to Nico which was performed live at the Royal Festival Hall, London, October 11. Since the concert was pro-filmed the most likely format should include footage on DVD.

before the scheduled drop date, an announcement was made Monday that the
music will now be released in early 2009 on New West Records.
