We must have recorded somewhere in the region of 20-25 new songs, and unless we release a double album (highly unlikely), some of those will be destined for EP’s and box sets. The touring line-up is starting to take shape and the wheels are slowly being out in motion to start the phenomenon which is a Twilight Singers world tour.

I can quite humbly say that this is the best album we have recorded to date, it’s a natural progression for the band. I know a lot of you are chomping at the bit for a release but I promise you it will be worth the wait. I also know that some of you will want it any way you can get it and of course some will pirate it, just know that we are not Aerosmith, we count on album sales and touring to feed our families, so think twice before doing so please".

Lemmy - The Movie (2010)

The rockumentary film Lemmy was directed and produced by Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski. It consists of a combination of 16 mm film and HD video footage, produced over three years. It features interviews with friends, peers, and admirers such as Dave Grohl, Slash, Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper, Peter Hook of Joy Division/New Order, Dee Snider, Mick Jones of The Clash, Jim Heath of Reverend Horton Heat, Slim Jim Phantom of The Stray Cats, Mike Inez, pro skateboarder Geoff Rowley, pro wrestler Triple H, C.C. Deville of Poison, Fast Eddie Clarke, Johnny Knoxville, Jarvis Cocker, Marky Ramone, former Hawkwind bandmates Dave Brock and Stacia, and Steve Vai.

Ian Fraser "Lemmy" Kilmister (born on 24 December 1945 in Burslem, Stoke on Trent, England), is an English rock musician. He is best known as the founding and sole constant member of the heavy metal band Motörhead. His appearance, including mutton chops (sideburn-moustache combination), and gravelly voice have made him a cult icon. Lemmy was placed 48th by Hit Parader on their list of the 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Singers of All Time list.

Lemmy is noted to have an extremely distinctive, gruff voice, which fits the band's aggressive sound. Lemmy is capable of expressing a degree of traditionally "melodic" singing, where he sings with a "rasp" in his voice. However he has to date rarely shown a "clean" vocal performance except on early Hawkwind songs such as "Silver Machine", "Lost Johnny" and on Motörhead's "I Don't Believe a Word" where he sings in a conventional manner for long passages. On the "Metallica Tribute" album on iTunes he sang more melodically, since the gruff and blunt approach has become something of a trade-mark for himself and Motörhead. His voice type is akin to 'Baritone', though because of his style being more expressive than technically driven, it is hard to classify him with any particular voice type.

Neither nightingale voices nor wild hardcore screams: in doom female vocalists are able to give a great sense of melody without taking away a single bit of the sinister, creepy atmospheres and of the filth and oppression created by heavy distortion and by the stone heavy riffs. Kong - What It Seems Is What You Get (2009)

A little history: Kong is a progressive/ experimental group from Amsterdam, formed in 1988 by guitarist/synth programmer Dirk de Vries, guitarist Aldo Sprenger, bassist/synth programmer Mark Drillich, and drummer Rob Smits. They play a fully instrumental & distinctive mix of genres, from electronic-industrial to more heavy riff oriented rock.

From wikipedia: 'The band is perhaps most notable for the quadrophonic approach to their shows: live performances are played in a quadraphonical live set-up, an idea that came from one of Kong’s very first gigs. On the opening-night of an art exhibition in a squatted Amsterdam bathhouse there was too little space for the band to play together, so each band member took his/her own independent stage and P.A.-stack by his/her side to one corner of the club. It proved an interesting set-up for the band and created a strange experience for the audience.'

'Scott "Wino" Weinrich formed Spirit Caravan after the break up of The Obsessed. The remainder of the band consisted of Dave Shermann (formerly of Wretched) on bass and vocals; and Gary Isom (formerly of Unorthodox) on drums. Weinrich credits them for encouraging him to join the band and become active musically again, after he had abandoned his music career. The band was originally entitled Shine, and they released a demo and 7" under this name. They were forced to change to the band's name when another band of the same name threatened legal action. They changed their name to Spirit Caravan, after an Obsessed song. The band had a lyrical emphasis on spirituality (though not necessarily religion) and global politics. The band split up in 2002.'

Electric Moon - Lunatics (2010)

Electric Moon came into existence in 2009 - a new project with cosmic traveller Sula Bassana as the driving force. Bassist Komet Lulu (responsible for corporate design and artwork) as well as Pablo Carneval (drums).

In 2010 they worked out their debut 'Lunatics', released on German Nasoni label and consisting of long spacey trips in the vein of earlier output with Sula Bassana involved, energetic and hypnotic as is well known, however this time with the focus on a more groovy and acid approach. -Progarchives

'What’s increasingly come to make Hypnos 69 unique sound-wise is the band’s use of jazz structures and classic prog instrumentation – King Crimson’s sax, Jethro Tull’s flute, everyone’s mellotron, etc. – but the band fuses these aspects of their sound together with a driving rock that’s grown over time to be the expansive, encompassing presentation of Legacy. Review:
Despite his day job with Fleet Foxes, J. Tillman is not a man of peaceful, easy feelings. His solo albums are muted, grave, and of a single, sepia-toned piece: his husky, trembling voice, his acoustic guitar, and a pervading sense of nearly medieval severity. The characters in Tillman's songs bring to mind photographs of unsmiling Depression-era families, people too busy coping with drought or fending off consumptive disease to do much more. Singing Ax is his seventh full-length album, and it is one of his grimmest and sparest yet, sucked dry of even the pastoral grace that lightened 2008's Vacilando Territory Blues.
The bleak tone is established from the opening dirge "Three Sisters", in which Tillman moans about hallucinatory night visions over a slowly ticking guitar vamp. The production is vividly stark, drawing your ears to the sound the pads of his fingertips make as they lightly drum the body of his guitar. It is a measured, somber song, and the rest of the record proceeds apace. The album's title is apt, not just for the hint of menace the image contains but for the appreciation of yeoman's work it implies: You can almost hear the methodical whistle and thunk of the blade cleaving wood in the record's grave, prayerful progression.
"Prayerful" is not an incidental world choice: There is a lot of religious imagery in J. Tillman's music, and Singing Ax is no exception. The pensive open-string drone of "Diamondback" hinges on Biblical serpent imagery, while "Mere Ornaments" opens with the apocalyptic vision of a "pale moon at the end of days." What distinguishes Singing Ax from its predecessors, though, is its startling and sharp turn into Freudian territory. "One Task" and "Our Beloved Tyrant" locate their power in some fairly twisted familial drama. "I had one task in our home/ I had to draw water from the well for my father's horse/ I was the least among my brothers/ And I would be the last among them to hold the reins," Tillman bleakly sings in the opening of "One Task". "Our Beloved Tyrant" is even darker, with Tillman bitterly addressing a father figure whose reign of terror over his home is seemingly on the wane: "it's true, you strike me as less godlike with no son to crucify," he mutters. It brings to mind Daniel Day-Lewis's "bastard in a basket" speech at the end of There Will Be Blood, with Tillman playing the role of pale-faced H.W., and it taps into some of the same elemental power.

Review:
Year In The Kingdom unravels some kind of galactic wilderness. Tillman's 6th album lyrically borders on mystic; proffering a transcendent union, an effortlessness. Strange and honest, this song cycle inhabits it's own idea-scape; one seemingly obsessed with wrestling death. These are afterlife dialogues of a mysterious future. Celestial badlands.
Unknown to just about everyone, Tillman started recording in April, tracking most of the instruments during the two week session himself. Hammered dulcimer, banjo, recorder, cymbals of varying size and wheezing air organs all feature heavily and lend YITK it's bizarre scale, conjuring tidal shifts with tiny movements. The string arrangements, performed by Jenna Conrad, as well as transposed from Tillman's sung direction, were intended to rest on chords almost counter-intuitively, bringing to bloom complex, decontextualized tones. Most noticeable upon first listen, however, is the production itself. While most of Tillman's records evidence some shambolic home recording, YITK is undisturbed throughout. Out up front of the mix, and dry as a bone, Tillman's voice is featured in a way unlike any of his previous records.
YITK sounds liberated; it is far and away Tillman's most joyful work. Created with little input or context, it is seemingly disinterested in communicating much else than a meditation for the few who allow themselves to listen with an open heart.

Review:
Some might be surprised to learn that Tillman—who joined Seattle sensations Fleet Foxes as drummer last spring, along the way enhancing the group's spine-tingling harmonies—is now five albums into a solo career stretching back to 2004.
In a strange inversion of pop's customary bent for instantly generated mass culture, Tillman's output has, for the most part, inhabited a secret universe. Pressed on tiny labels in minuscule numbers—100 here, 150 there—and passed around like the holy grail among the knowing few, those discs nonetheless form a body of work heralding the arrival of a major songwriter.
Carving out a darkly brooding persona with roots in Neil Young's early '70s output, Richard Buckner's elliptical Americana, Nick Drake balladry, and assorted, harder-to-pinpoint gospel, country, blues, and folk idioms, Tillman’s two most recent solo long-players—Cancer and Delirium (2007/2008) and Minor Works (2006)—are packed with memorable songs. Often built upon the simplest, ingratiating musical maneuvers--like the little stair-step acoustic guitar on Minor Works' "Crooked Roof"--Tillman's songs rarely hew to the literal, instead deftly navigating allegory and alienation, the occasional revelation stacked against heaps of melancholy.
On Vacilando (so named from the Spanish term, indicating a wanderer for whom the experience of travel is more important than the reaching of a destination), though, he strips away his tendency for over-production, resulting in a more focused, refined approach. Tillman's cavernous vocal range, all texture and nuance, is front and center; meanwhile, a wise-beyond-his-years lyrical depth that, one fathoms, springs from (or, more accurately, is a reaction to) his restrictive religious upbringing, results in pithy imagery, i.e., "Suffering doesn't know God's name (from "New Imperial Grand Blues") or, from the album's opening salvo, "All that you see, you have dominion/All you don't know, you are forbidden."
An existentialist’s song cycle, Vacilando's grim, lonely songs reinforce each other with an impeccable internal logic, fashioning its own little world-weary universe, wherein less is more, simple guitar strums signal seismic shifts in mood, shadows bump into one another. Like Neil Young’s On the Beach or Jason Molina’s Songs:Ohia incarnation, it’s best heard late at night, alone, lights down low, one last bottle of wine in the wings.
From its atmospheric, old-world opening, "All You See," chorale vocals over a barely audible guitar, the album initiates a haunting sweep. The baseline is austere: minimalist arrangements hinging on acoustic guitar, occasional keyboard flourishes, Tillman's sad, aching voice, the occasional wordless vocal passage. Elaboration is present when needed, like the forlorn banjo on "Barter Blues" or rolling drums on "Laborless Land," which has the timeless feel of an American Civil War ballad. It's the new High Lonesome.
Tillman cradles the hushed aphorisms of "Firstborn" like a week-old baby. "Vessels," built around a deceptive guitar riff, features Tillman's most tender vocal turn, even as the apocalypse looms; brittle piano fills lend a slightly sardonic touch to the pitying “James Blues” a pre-WW2-style parlor blues. Penultimate track "Above All Men" represents an apotheosis of sorts, putting aside personal turmoil long enough to recognize simple blessings.
The record's insistently bleak tone threatens to tilt into claustrophobia at times, but Tillman winningly subverts expectations. The striking full-band cut, “Steel on Steel,” with delicious French horn/pedal steel interplay and Fleet Fox Casey Wescott on keyboards, melds agonizing romantic heartbreak to an epiphany on life's ephemeral nature. It's a leftfield instant pop classic, Tillman winding his silkiest vocal around the song's glistening melody. "New Imperial Grand Blues," in contrast, is a pulsating rocker, a jarring peek into the Crazy Horse side of Tillman's brain.
It’s a bone-rattling blues called “Master’s House”, however, that best embodies Tillman’s talent: “How easily the heart of man is tamed” he surmises, over the music, his quivering, floating tenor gaining a steady, stoic determination. It’s an explosive assessment, with implications reverberating into personal, spiritual, even geopolitical realms. Tillman’s own spirit, meanwhile, you suspect will be tough to quell.

Review:
The best songs are the ones that immediately strike a chord--it might be the rolling percussion that makes you want to drum along on your steering wheel/desk/any flat surface available, or a guitar line so dynamic and driving that it slips its way underneath your skin at a minute's notice and lingers in your ears long after you've stopped listening. Sometimes, though, the quiet songs are those that carry the most weight and strike the hardest. Stripped down to the core, these songs don't swagger, or instantaneously vie for your attention, but slowly--magically, almost--float into your head; before you know it, it's hard to imagine that any other song fit as perfectly. It's a gift--a songwriter's ability to create something (lyrically and musically) that speaks volumes without being over the top/in your face--universal and personal at the same time, and Tillman has it.
Despite his young age, Tillman writes the type of songs you expect a grizzled old man to be playing in the dark corners of a seedy bar. With only a few sparse strums and a delicate harmonica solo, Visions of a Troubled Mind sums up everything fantastic about his work. He doesn’t rely on anything, except his ear and his smoky voice. With instrumentation so soft you have to strain to hear, you get swept up in the wave of emotion his words deliver.
Ribbons of Glass stands out from the other tracks, simply because of the banjo riff and slow drawn strings that bolster the sound, but Tillman’s sound truly relies on what he doesn’t add. Instead of throwing in a pedal steel at every turn or echoing harmonies and lush strings, he resists the urge to over complicate things. That’s why the tender sound of the singing saw on A Fine Suit, the metallic plink of the xylophone on , or the vocal help on Under the Sun push through the gloomy from the haze. On any other record, they’d creep quietly, lost in the arrangements, but Tillman asks for help so rarely that the extra sounds can’t go unnoticed.

This eight-song album is a collaboration between the acclaimed rock icon and
musician, songwriter, and producer Daniel Lanois, known for his work with U2
Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel, Brian Eno, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, The Neville
Brothers and many others. As producer or co-producer Lanois won Grammy Awards in
1987, 1992, 1997, 2000, and 2001

Young and Lanois have crossed paths musically over the course of many years
including Lanois' performances at Young's Bridge School Benefit Concert and
Young's performance at Farm Aid when Lanois was Willie Nelson's music director
but this is the first time the two have recorded together. Recorded in Lanois'
home in the Silverlake area of Los Angeles, 'Le Noise' features Young on
acoustic and electric guitars with Lanois adding his trademark sonic textures
creating one of the most sonically arresting albums Young has ever recorded. No
band, no overdubs, just 'a man on a stool and me doing a nice job on the
recording,' as Lanois puts it

'Neil was so appreciative of the sonics that we presented to him,' Lanois says
'He walked in the door and I put an acoustic guitar into his hands - one that I
had been working on to build a new sound. That's the multi-layered acoustic
sound that you hear on the songs 'Love and War' and 'Peaceful Valley Boulevard.'
I wanted him to understand that I've spent years dedicated to the sonics in my
home and that I wanted to give him something he'd never heard before. He picked
up that instrument, which had everything - an acoustic sound, electronica, bass
sounds - and he knew as soon as he played it that we had taken the acoustic
guitar to a new level. It's hard to come up with a new sound at the back end of
50 years of rock and roll, but I think we did it.'

With a two-year-old Red House Painters record sitting on the shelf, unable to find release due to legal ramifications, Mark Kozelek broke four years of recorded silence with the Rock ‘n Roll Singer EP. Released in 2000 under his own name, the half-hour disc featured interpretations of three Bon Scott-era AC/DC covers, a John Denver cover, and a couple new songs of his own. The EP seemed to divide longtime fans and critics into two camps. Some felt that the long period of no new material shouldn't have resulted in a batch of covers, while others were impressed with Kozelek's straight-faced reinterpretations that revealed a surprising amount of depth at the heart of AC/DC's songs.

Kozelek also spent a fair amount of time during 1999 and 2000 arranging Take Me Home: A Tribute to John Denver and two benefit compilations for the Shanti Project, a San Francisco-based AIDS relief organization. He was also cast in the role of a bass player with a predilection for high school females in Cameron Crowe's critically acclaimed Almost Famous, which hit theaters in 2000.

Meanwhile, Kozelek bought back the rights for Red House Painters' unreleased record, entitled Old Ramon. A full-length solo record, What's Next to the Moon, was released by Badman (the outlet for his previous EP and compilation involvements mentioned above) in early 2001. This time, the album was all-AC/DC renderings, featuring Kozelek's own arrangements and further polarizing fans and critics. Sub Pop eventually released Old Ramon a couple months after What's Next to the Moon, and they also offered White Christmas Live by the year's end. A Yuletide-inspired disc of live material recorded the previous year in Scandinavia, Sub Pop made it available through mail order only.

Вчера ночью узнал, что в моем родном городе умер человек, который на протяжении 20 лет олицетворял собой понятие карельский фолк-рок!

25 мая 2010 года, в Больнице Скорой Медицинской Помощи города Петрозаводска скончался Александр Быкадоров.

Прощание с Александром состоится в пятницу с 12:00 до 13:00 по адресу ул. Кирова, 40.

Один из отцов-основателей группы MYLLÄRIT Александр жил и творил, так как и подобает истинному Музыканту.

Сама его судьба поражает своей непредсказуемой канвой. Да и кто в свое время мог подумать, что самарский паренек, поступивший в 1980-м году в Петрозаводский филиал Ленинградской консерватории, станет спустя 10–15 лет одним из самых ярких знатоков и пропагандистов многонациональной музыкальной культуры Республики Карелия?

Мои глубочайшие соболезнования родным и близким...
